Ouch ! That hurts UX conversion
Recently I came across an article commerce site selling customised photo frames at a really competing cost . So I thought let’s try it . Great website , Great design , Great pricing . I went ahead added my pictures , selected the frame design and Ola , there was at the last important step – Payment.
This was the moment of conversion, and to my disbelief the link for payment was poorly positioned and the post click the load time was so poor that i dropped the idea of continuing the journey to purchase. That’s when I realised how important an UX audit could be for the a great conversion rate for a product !
Improving conversions is all about creating a smooth user experience. I’m curating here some of the key UX issues that I believe can drive users away – and quick fixes to boost engagement:
1) Slow Load Times: Users won’t wait for slow pages. Use image compression and caching to improve speed.
2) Confusing Navigation: Overcomplicated menus frustrate users. Keep navigation simple and intuitive.
3)Poor Mobile Optimization: Non-mobile-friendly sites alienate users. Use responsive design and test on all devices.
4)Weak CTAs: Hidden or unclear CTAs reduce action. Make buttons prominent, clear, and easy to find.
5)Complex Checkout: Lengthy checkouts lead to cart abandonment. Simplify to fewer steps and offer guest checkout.
6)Lack of Trust Signals: Missing reviews or security badges erode trust. Add trust badges, customer testimonials, and secure payment icons.
7)Content Overload: Dense text confuses users. Use concise language, headings, and visuals to guide them.
Last but not the least from a personal experience –
8) Limited Browser Support, Especially on Safari: Many apps fail on Safari, leading to a poor experience for users on Apple devices. Test and optimize your app for all major browsers, especially Safari, to avoid missing out on a significant user base.
Happy if this could help. Let’s not undermine the importance of UX and agree that it is key , and can keep users engaged and improve conversions.
